1.1 Background of the Study
Grassroots football serves as the foundation for developing future football talents and fostering community engagement. In Gusau Local Government Area (LGA), Zamfara State, grassroots football has gained recognition as a tool for youth development, social inclusion, and community building. However, the development of grassroots football programs often faces challenges such as inadequate funding, limited infrastructure, and poor public awareness. Public relations (PR) plays a pivotal role in promoting grassroots football by creating awareness, engaging stakeholders, and attracting sponsorships. As highlighted by Adekunle and Musa (2023), effective PR strategies, such as media campaigns, community engagement, and strategic partnerships, can significantly enhance grassroots sports development. This study examines the role of PR in promoting grassroots football development in Gusau LGA.

Despite the potential of grassroots football to empower youth and foster community cohesion, its development in Gusau LGA faces several challenges, including limited public interest, insufficient funding, and lack of stakeholder engagement.
